Does Not Include Chessboard. Roman ruled Egypt during 30 BC to 700 AD. When Roman first came, Egypt was ruled by Greek Dynasty Ptolemies (named after one of the Alexander's General Ptolemy, who took Egypt as his own territory after Alexander died in 323 BC). In the period of around 50 BC, Julius Caesar helped Cleopatra (Ptolemaic Queen) to fight a civil war against her teenaged brother Ptolemy. Soon Roman troops were all over Egypt. But Caesar went back to Rome and also took Cleopatra with him. Julius Caesar was assassinated in Rome in 44 BC, Cleopatra returned to Egypt with another Roman leader, Mark Anthony.
After Julius Caesar, civil war broke out between Julius Caesar's nephew Augustus and Marc Anthony. Finally Anthony and Cleopatra were defeated and killed in 30 BC, and the Romans took over Egypt.
