This puzzle, utilizing equipment used in the sport of cricket, can be traced back to a puzzle patented in England back in 1898. The world's only remaining original version of this puzzle is part of the personal collection of my close British friend, James Dalgety. James was kind enough to lend his hand in the creation of a Cast Puzzle version. The key word is 'gates'.

The quality you'd expect from Hanayama went into the design of this puzzle. It does feel a little thin compared to the chunkier cast puzzles. I haven't tried bending any of the arms, but it certainly feels like it could easily be warped or broken. It took me about 5 or 10 minutes to get this one apart and reassembled. There's not a lot to it, really. There are a few wrong paths you could work your way down, but it's really not too tough. Not one of my favs from Hanayama.

I have no idea why MadnessR rate zero for this puzzle. It's well made, and interpreted its theme pretty well. Yes, it is easy, but fun to fiddle with. Being a young and enthusiastic puzzler, I surely influenced my brother. This is the first puzzle he brought with his own money. We both worked on it, and he found the first part of the solution,I found the other half. Designed beautifully and clever. Liked too fiddle with it every time I walked past it.

Not one of my favorites...Not too difficult.. There's no difinitive starting point...Feels a little cheap and it's easy to force..
