The Brass Treasure Chest is an attractive, well-made puzzle. It looks great on my desk at work and has challenged a few of my colleagues. This was the first puzzle I bought, and it sparked my interest in this hobby. I played around with the box and thought I had it figured out in 10 minutes, but no, I had only solved the first of three steps required to open the box. Through sheer luck, I managed to have the box open within 30 minutes. The rest of the evening, and days that followed, I tinkered with the box, trying to figure out the moves that causes the secret mechanism to engage and disengage. I managed to understand the first and third steps to the solution, but the second "move" was the tricky one. I downloaded the solution and it was made clear how to consistently solve this puzzle. I loaned it to a buddy and he also managed to open it in an evening. I think a rating of 10 is a little high, but due to the workings of the box being concealed from view, it is a demanding little puzzle.

Looks nice but... - instructions were confusing - never got it fully open, even with the instructions, wasn't sure if it was stuck or it was just me.

Good puzzel,,,,, well made.... And when you think you got it open,,,,,, nope ;) some more work needs to be done ;) More than just one lock inside.

A beautifully made little box that's a joy to open and close. Very well made. However, I found that the sequence of steps required to open it is such that I don't think I'd ever have coincidentally worked it out on my own. I worked at it for about a month before finally looking at the solution. I'd never have hit upon it, and you can't figure it out by examination. But maybe others have felt differently. Nevertheless, I recommend it!

Still haven't quite gotten it open. The instructions were a bit confusing, too.
