Cast Coil
Object: Take apart the pieces and put them back together Difficulty: Level 7 - Challenging Brand: Hanayama Types: Hanayama Metal Puzzles, Edi Nagata Dimensions: 1 1/3 in x 1 in x 1 1/3 in / 3.4 cm x 2.5 cm x 3.3 cm
It appears like a box-like lump with a hole in it, but is actually comprised of two coiled up virtually identical pieces. You must try to take it apart by sliding and rotating the pieces. Although the pieces are angular in shape, they can be rotated in unexpected ways, making their movements quite intriguing. The theme of the puzzle is Loops.

I think this puzzle is underrated. I bought it for a friend of mine, he managed to disassemble it, but could not assemble it back. I think he was not paying attention during the first part and was just lucky. I tried to assemble it and could do it only with the help of a video which shows how to take the two parts apart. But I have no idea how it works in general.
I might buy it one day for myself.

Appropriately-rated difficulty. It took me 10 minutes to get this puzzle apart, and a little longer to put it together again. But it took me a few days to understand the sequence of moves to solve the puzzle consistently. As with all Hanayama puzzles, this is expertly designed and manufactured. A must have!
