In order to solve Octacube, you must put the sub-cubes together in such a way that each side of the composite cube contains four of the same color dots. At the same time the inner dots, where they face each other, must be the same.

I really enjoy this puzzle. I don't know if 'gruelling' is a suitable description of difficulty, as I can solve this fairly consistently and fairly quickly. However, I did make a mental note of two colours (see picture) that were on adjacent sides. I have tried starting without that reference and it can be fun and frustrating getting most of the cubes in place, and then finding the last one doesn't fit the pattern. High replay factor. Well worth the price.
