Product Description
Note: Our level rating system is different than Hanayama's. Hanayama's level 1 is equivalent to our level 5.... level 6 is equivalent to our level 10.
In the summer of 1997, I saw two mackerels that had somehow managed to get into the sardine tank at the aquarium. Watching these two fish unable to blend in with the shoal of sardines made me wonder if they were on a journey of self-discovery.
What sort of adventure will they have?
Imagining this led to the conception of six cast puzzles based on oceanographic subjects.
Subject: Sea Horses
A happy pair of sea horses. Once you have disentangled them, put them back together and make them stand up again.

Very nice looking puzzle, and not nearly as easy as it looks like it will be. A winner.
Beautiful and sleek, great design, very fun to actually solve it - memorize all the moves, complete it in 10-15 seconds and put it back together. Fast, great looking and satisfying puzzle. Classic Hanayama
This puzzle is perfectly great! The solution is a bit tricky and similar to what you may expect it to be, but still some unexpected moves are needed in order to succeed. There are two or three dead ends which could never make you think they are such, unless you simply decide to go back and see by chance where you were wrong. I love this beautiful, brain-teasing, lovely puzzle very much!
It's simple, beautiful, and more complex than you expect it to be when you first look at it. It's easily my favorite puzzle at this difficulty level. Over the past few weeks I've carried it around in my pocket because enjoy taking it out and fiddling with it from time to time.
Elegant and appropriately rated.
This Seahorse Hanayama puzzle is really cool. It feels great in the hands and is well built. It even has a little hole at the top of one of the horses so that it can be worn as jewelry. It took me an hour until it came apart, and then another hour to put it back into the starting position again. One of my friends solved it in 10 minutes however, but he still liked it a lot. It took another 4 hours before I had the movement really fluid, and for a couple of those hours it was quite frustrating (in a good way!). Now I enjoy playing with it sometimes when I watch TV. Any time a friend comes over and sits on my couch, they immediately pick it up from the coffee table and start playing with it. It's definitely one of the easiest Hanayama toys, hence it's level 3 out of 6 hardness rating, and a great first one to buy if you are new to this brand of puzzle. Way more advanced puzzles by this brand that I have used and recommend: Vortex, Enigma, Cast Quartet and Cast Spiral. The Revomaze brand maze toys are also really unique and highly addictive (just start at the easy levels, because the hard ones can take 40+ hours!)
better than I thought it would be..... elegant little puzzle. nice flow, and feel. not hard at all, but its fun :)
The quality of the castings is very nice. The solution, while not a gimme, is very workable and elegant. Nice puzzle!
Beautiful design, the solution is intricate but there don't seem to be too many dead ends. My stars refer to the fun of the puzzle, not the difficulty.
