Serendipitous Discovery is a clever magnetic puzzle designed by the renowned Oskar van Deventer. Featuring four rotors and twenty movable disks—each containing 10×1 mm magnets—it’s a mechanical challenge that relies on careful planning rather than guesswork.
The puzzle’s frame also holds ten embedded magnets. As you turn the rotors, these magnets interact with the tokens: when a rotor's opening aligns with a magnet, the nearest token jumps into the gap. No direct contact is needed—only the rotors can be manipulated. And because each jump is one-way, undoing a move isn’t always possible.
Designed with precision and 3D printed in PLA.
