This challenging puzzle designed by Siebenstein-Spiele founder Jürgen Reiche requires a bit of thinking just to wrap one's head around how it works. The individual pieces consist of two layers, which can counter-rotate by means of a stainless-steel hinge. Thus, each piece can actually change shape. In order to solve the puzzle, both layers must be arranged into the 5x6 rectangle shown.
Made in laser-cut wood and stainless steel by Siebenstein-Spiele. Based in Munster, Germany, Siebenstein-Spiele was founded in 1992. Although the company is mainly known for board games, Siebenstein-Spiele also makes many wooden puzzles, several of which have been designed by company founder Jürgen Reiche.

I love the idea of this kind of two layers packing puzzle, with the little hinges. Must have spent more or less 30 minutes on this one. Pretty, fun and demanding enough. Difficulty: Level 8 seems about right. I wouldn't say it's a 9 nor even close to a 10, but it's not the easiest level 8 either. Quality: Different types/colors of wood makes this one very beautiful and perfect for display, solved or unsolved. I have to say though, since it's [thin] wood, some pieces are not perfectly straight and won't make a complete 360 spin as freely as wanted. (If yours is similar: do not force the pieces, instead try to bring both of them at the very opposite side of the hinge, leaving a bigger gap between, before spinning.) For this price, I'd say quality is good. Mini "rant" : The one thing I find disappointing (even a bit annoying) with packing puzzles is when they come solved and the pictures here show the solution (or at least part of)... and this one is no exception. Still, you can manage to open it without looking and mix the pieces, just hope your photographic memory is not too good and you can forget the picture by the time you get your puzzle.
Definitely harder than a level 8! I'd say it's a 9 but not quite a 10. Double-layered pieces adds exponentially more possible combinations. One of the hardest jigsaw-type puzzles if you scramble the pieces and rotations Definitely a good time-waster! It's a smart and well-made puzzle.
