Great looking puzzle when finished. Will be fun watching others try to open. Building it yourself does take away from the mystery of opening the box, however I enjoy the sense of accomplishment you get from the building of it. My biggest beef about the kit would have to be the quality of the molded plastic parts. They required a lot of filing and sanding to function properly. I chose not to lacquer the wood. I used a wood wax, which l believe looks just as good, took less time and functions better on the parts that require to slide with wood on wood. I also highly recommended Puzzle Master for their speedy shipping and their site had the best price I found.
It is a quite original puzzle that begins with our own construction of it. I wouldn't say it's complicated, but it's not easy either. Once it is assembled, you have an undoubtedly spectacular piece (Anyone who sees it is amazed) that has the added bonus of being a puzzle. The possible drawback is that having built it, we know where the tricks and mechanisms are, but I still find it highly recommended
