Engpass (Bottleneck): The Heart-Shaped Illusion
The Engpass puzzle—whose name translates to "Bottleneck" in English—is a classic puzzle that is a masterclass in hidden complexity. While its four-piece jigsaw construction and charming heart shape suggest a simple solve, the internal geometry tells a much more challenging story.
The Challenge
At first glance, the puzzle appears to be a standard four-piece interlocking assembly. However, the true difficulty lies in the precision-engineered "bottleneck" design. Each jigsaw tab and corresponding slot is crafted with tapered slopes and varying widths.
Because the tabs transition from narrow to wide (or vice versa), the pieces cannot simply be pulled apart. You must discover the specific sliding sequence and precise alignment required to navigate these "bottlenecks" without forcing the wood.
