Karakuri Creation Group has beautiful puzzle boxes with unique opening mechanisms and wonderful artistry. The crafting work of Hakone & Odawara have been passed down through generations from the Edo era. Today, craftsmen continue these traditions and explore new and interesting high quality works so that the world of the "Karakuri box" continues to evolve.
This puzzle was designed for an exhibition with the theme, “Karakuri Experiments”. The motif of this work is rooted in the designers own experiments and challenges.
The structure or look of the Twin 5 was inspired by the "Top Box" presented by Mr. Kamei in 1983. Hideaki, however, created a new mechanism. so that the way to open the box is different.
The construction of the box is made using traditional woodworking techniques, which requires a great deal of dimensional precision to make it work reliably.
This is a member of the TWIN series, but it requires very few steps, so even beginners can enjoy it.
