I recently built this puzzle and was very impressed with the quality of the laser cut components and the very detailed instruction booklet that contains highly detailed 3 dimensional colour images. The completed puzzle box although not difficult to open functions in a really satisfying way. I thoroughly enjoyed making this puzzle box which looks fantastic on its stand (which is also part of the kit). I will definitely by buying the other self build puzzle boxes from this company starting with the Scriptum cube. Cheers Andy
TLDR: The wood was too warped and the plywood too poor a quality to actually make this into a working puzzle box. A bit about the construction: I spent over eight hours very carefully constructing the box and I have also built other puzzle boxes, that used the same construction method from other brands, that have all been successful. The construction is fun and a small challenge in its own right. The design is really pleasant to look at and the box resembles a Borg Cube in a really cool way. The locking mechanism, if it worked, is fairly simple and very easy to spot, so this wouldn't make a challenging box to open even if you were able to complete it. I sunk a lot of time, and care, into construction, but there isn't a viable product at the end.
