Red Treasure - Designer: Benno de Grote

Inspired by the intricate complexity of Castle Emberlock, Red Treasure packs an incredible amount of mechanical depth into a compact format. This isn't just a puzzle box; it’s a condensed treasure hunt that utilizes every square inch of its frame. Rated at a formidable 9 out of 10 for difficulty, this is a serious challenge designed for those who enjoy uncovering clever tricks and layers of hidden logic.

The Objective

Your mission is to navigate a dense 25-step sequence to reveal the secret within. The journey is complete only when you uncover exactly why the puzzle bears the name "Red Treasure." Along the way, the puzzle may tease you with coins—but be warned, these are not intended as tools. Everything you need to succeed is built into the mechanism, and no force, banging, or hitting is ever required.

Important Notes

  • Solve on a Table: This puzzle contains small parts that may be released during the discovery process. To avoid losing critical components, please solve on a flat surface—not on a couch or carpet.

Why You’ll Love It

  • Dense Mechanical Engineering: Playtesters describe it as having "more puzzle than it has any right to have," offering a heavy-duty experience comparable to much larger castle-style puzzles.

  • Significant Heft: Weighing approximately 860 grams, the puzzle has a massive, high-quality feel that provides satisfying tactile feedback with every move.

  • Deep Discovery: With a solve time typically ranging from 2 to 6 hours, this box provides a long-lasting and rewarding experience for even the most seasoned "pirates."

  • Limited & Numbered: Each unit is a true collector's piece, featuring a hidden production number tucked away inside the mechanism.

  • Masterful Design: Benno de Grote’s signature style shines here, using clever tricks and surprising transitions to keep you engaged from the first move to the last.

This box took me 2 days. Every move enabled another move. Every time I thought it was done, there was another brick to remove, another button to push. I worked at least 12 hours, and I had help! However the most satisfying puzzle I have ever worked on. No idea how I'm going to get it back together....pieces everywhere :)
