Free Houdini from his cell in this clever sequential discovery puzzle. (In other words - free the metal ball)  You'll uncover tools as you go—starting with one right away to keep you hooked. No banging or force needed; each step has a purpose and a tool to match.

Inspired by a mechanism from Brian Young’s earlier work The Opening Bat, this version brings the action out into the open. You can see most of the elements—you just need to figure out how to use them. It’s a puzzle you can think through before even picking it up.

Awarded Jury First Prize at the 2012 Nob Yoshigahara Puzzle Design Competition. Also featured in Peter Hajek’s 2021 book Enter If You Can.

Dimensions: 80mm tall, 35mm across the diagonal at the base.
