We found Zahlenschloss to be on the difficult side of Level 8, so in that regard it was a challenge. We liked it. The build quality is an issue, however. It is glued wood ply with anchoring screws for re-inforcement. The item we got -- presumably -- had been sitting for a while so the glue had dried out and the expansion and contraction of the wood meant the screws fell out within minutes of removing the cellophane. The anchoring screws in the lock arm fell out immediately. This doesn't prevent you from solving it so we still got several hours of play. But the face plate was separating as well and eventually one of the screws holding the dial on feel into the mechanism. At that point the dial sheared off and the puzzle was unsolvable. In our experience this comes with the territory with wood puzzles. Most don't stand the test of time, but this one specifically was sad since 'the mechanic' is super interesting and well worth your time.
