Save the Queens Chess Puzzle
|Object||put the stars in the correct place|
|Difficulty||Level 8 - Demanding|
|Types||More Wood Puzzles, Dave Janelle|
|Dimensions||17.7 cm x 17.7 cm x 1.9 cm / 7 in x 7 in x 0.75 in|
Arrange the 4 boards to form an 8x8 grid such that no queen (star shape) is repeated on any column, row, or any diagonal, thus making them safe from attack from a chess type move where Queens can move horizontally, vertically, and diagonally.
Although the puzzle does not appear difficult, it is shockingly hard to solve, with over 12,000 orientations possible and only 1 possible solution.
Makes an excellent desk or coffee table type puzzle, because people are willing to try it and often get absorbed in it, thinking a solution is close at hand. (probably not:))
Woods used are 1/4” thick Maine hardwoods and may be Ash, Maple or Birch.
Made by Creative Crafthouse in their Spring Hill, FL shop.
